You might have guessed from our recent reviews of Mumbai Mansion and The Cavalry Club that we love a good curry. Until we moved out to Tranent we had our favourite take away to rely on for a great curry at home. There are few in Tranent but not to the same standard we’ve been used to, but that’s probably all to do with our own personal taste.
Que Holy Cow Sauces getting in touch with us and asking if we’d like to try out their sauces. We’ve had one or two of them before in a degusta box but we were very excited to try some more of the range.
The sauces are very easy to use. They keep in your cupboard until ready to be used and it’s just a matter of cooking your chosen meat, add the sauce and a little water and then allow to simmer. We’ve let our sauces cook for anywhere between 20 minutes (we were very hungry) to 2 hours! They also have a very handy spiciness rating ranging from 1 chili to 4. I should say here that the 2 chili curry did pack a good kick, much to our surprise.
We loved the easiness of the sauces and they tasted fantastic. Much better than some Indian take-away’s we’ve eaten. Inside on the packaging there are hints and tips for making it a little more exciting if you wish. We decided to add in the suggested spinach to our rogan josh and it was an excellent wee tip.
Last night we also tried the Delhi tikka masala. This too was a great wee dish. The sauces are light and packed full of punchy flavours. There are no heavy sauces to be found here.
And as if they weren’t great already, they’re also gluten free so they can be enjoyed by everyone. We still have two sauces still to go, so keep an eye out on our social media for how we get on.
