Wedding day jitters are almost guaranteed to happen. You can’t fight them, but they’re different from wedding day stress.
You should be slightly nervous on your wedding day as it’s such a big moment. However, you shouldn’t spend the entire day stressing about every tiny thing. It can ruin the whole experience if you’re not careful.
So, here are some top tips to avoid stress on your big day and spend the whole time with a genuine smile on your face:
Delegate tasks to other people
Even if you planned the wedding yourself, you need some extra help on your wedding day. Get your friends and family to take control of certain things. Ideally, you do want a wedding planner as they can take the reins. They’ll handle everything from timings to sorting out contingency plans if something goes wrong, etc.
Basically, you want to focus on getting married on your wedding day. Let everyone else deal with the other stuff while you try to relax and think about walking down the aisle.
Pick a versatile wedding venue
What exactly does this mean?
Well, there are loads of amazing wedding venues out there, but some are more versatile than others. They can host outdoor weddings, but they can also bring everyone indoors if required. Choosing a venue that gives you both options is perfect when the weather rears its head. There’s definitely no research into this topic, but if there was I’m willing to bet that rain/bad weather is a top cause of stress on wedding mornings!
When your venue allows you to pivot and come inside if the heavens open, you don’t have to worry about the whole day being ruined.
Do a wedding rehearsal
Wedding rehearsals are usually seen in TV shows, but you should start doing them too. This is the biggest day of your life (so far) and you want everything to run smoothly. So, it only makes sense to go through the itinerary beforehand.
Get everyone together for the wedding rehearsal a day or so before the big day. Ensure everyone knows their roles and you get all of the timings perfect. This is an easy way to spot any problems that might cause issues on the big day. For example, you discover that there’s a lot of traffic going from the ceremony to the reception. Now, you can figure out a faster route or at least be prepared for it so it doesn’t stress you out on the big day.
You don’t need to invite all of your guests to the rehearsal – only those with a part to play during the ceremony or reception.
And just like that, you can start to breathe deeply and feel less stressed on your magical wedding day. The best piece of advice is to not sweat the small stuff. There are many things that can happen on your wedding day that are out of your control. Don’t worry about them! At the end of the day, it’s a special moment between you and your partner. If you follow the tips above, the main stressors will be dealt with anyway.
