Some people may think that being a vegan means you’ll never be able to eat cheese again, but after trying out the Violife range, we can confidently say this isn’t the case! The choice of vegan cheese from Violife is so impressive and from smokey slices to grated cheese and even their own version of vegan camembert, vegan cheese has really made its mark on the world.
Find out what we thoughts about the Violife cheeses when we recently sampled them…
Original Flavour Slices
Use these super slices fresh from the fridge (in the humble sandwich or something else) or choose to hear them up under the grill in a toasted sandwich or pitta bread. It has a very mild taste so was perfect for my son (who doesn’t like any kind of a ‘smell’ to his cheese) served as a toasted sandwich with beans. Ideal for a quick Saturday lunchtime before heading out the door for one of this clubs.
Smokey Cheddar Flavour Slices
Wow, the smell and taste of these smokey cheddar slices is truly authentic. I would never have known they are vegan and they remind me of the sort of cheese we eat when we go to Spain. Personally I like this wedged into a baguette with some chutney and salad. The choice is yours!
Epic Mature Cheddar Flavour Blocks
We go through many blocks of cheddar in our house so I was very much interested to try it out. From chopping it up into cubes for the kids to grating it and addicting it to wraps or sprinkling over pasta, it is so versatile. The vegan version from Violife was surprisingly good! It really didn’t seem any different to the dairy cheddar we normally buy and it worked well being eaten directly from the packet. This is perfect for those quick vegan recipes you might want to try doing.
Original Flavour Grated
I always have a bag of grated cheese on the go in our house and this original flavour grated cheese from Violife is an absolute gem. There are plenty of vegan recipes you can use this in or just use it in your day-to-day cooking from sprinkling it over warm dinners, pizza bases and adding it to salads.
Violife Le Rond Camembert
What was this going to taste like? I really didn’t know. Surely nothing can match up to the camembert I am used to consuming?
This can be baked in the oven or popped into the microwave and then enjoyed along with some crackers and perhaps a glass of wine? We oven baked it as when given the option, I don’t think anything tastes as good when done in the microwave.
What did we think? Surprisingly good! Vegans seriously don’t have to miss out. I would definitely buy this again and would be more than happy to serve it to any of my vegan friends who come over to visit.
What else do you need to know about Violife vegan cheese?
The Violife cheese we tasted went way beyond our expectations in terms of taste, flavour and texture. Vegan cheese really has come a long way and I often I couldn’t really tell the difference. Do you have any thoughts on Vegan cheese? We would love to know!
