The move from one house to another can be extremely stressful. But how exactly can you make the experience stress free and less hassle? We have shared some top tips to help you.
Do Your Research
It is so important to do your research when it comes to moving house. The last thing you want to do is be paying through the nose for a service that isn’t up to scratch or finding out that the movers you have chosen do not carry the right insurance. Whether you are looking for a cheap removal service or simply some local movers, you will find the right company for your needs.
Declutter Beforehand
Take the opportunity to declutter your stuff so that you aren’t moving stuff that you no longer need from house to house. Moving house offers the perfect opportunity to get rid of clothes that no longer fit, furniture that no longer suits and stuff you simply are not using.
You can either sell them on the various platforms, give away to friends and family or donate to charity shops. The end result is that you have less ridiculous things to move from one place to another.
Start Packing As Early As Possible
As soon as you have a move-in date, start packing. You don’t want to be rushing around to get everything moved in time – that is guaranteed to bring you stress. Pick up some cardboard boxes from an affordable place such as a storage company or see if you can pick some up for free from local shops or people close by and make sure you have plenty of tape and a pen to label the boxes.
Label Everything Properly
It is so important that you label everything properly. By doing so, you can pop the boxes in the right room at the other end so you aren’t moving things around from room to room to ensure you have the right spot. Label them with whose items they are and what room they need to go in. If there is stuff going in the loft, garage or shed, its worth labelling those too so they can be placed nearby ready to put them in.
Keep Important Stuff On You
Movers carry insurance for a good reason – to cover any eventualities. It is so important to make sure you have important stuff on you such as passports, moving paperwork, phone chargers – anything that would be impossible to replace or cost a lot to replace or that you will need straight away the other end.
Sometimes moves can be unexpectedly delayed and if this happens, you need to have some stuff the other end that you can work from.
These are just a few tips you can try to help make your move less stressful. If you have an imminent house move, I hope these tips prove helpful to you. Do you have any moving tips that you would like to share to ensure that moving house is stress and hassle free?
