Tesco is teaming up with its suppliers of popular household brands like Andrex, Aquafresh, Bodyform, Radox, Sure, and Wilkinson Sword to give away millions of personal care items to those who need them – those suffering from hygiene poverty.
From now until June 11th, when Tesco customers buy two selected essential hygiene products, its suppliers will donate a third item directly to In Kind Direct to help tackle hygiene poverty.
Last fall, Tesco and its suppliers worked together to help more people in need. Over two million products have already been donated as part of this effort.
Brands that are participating in the campaign include:
- Unilever
- Essity
- Haleon
- Kimberly-Clark
- Edgewell
All products will be distributed by In Kind Direct. They work with thousands of charities, community groups, foodbanks and even schools across the UK to tackle hygiene poverty and get hygiene products to those who need them.
Many people are in need of hygiene products right now, the numbers are alarming. Families are often impacted with 10% of people in households with dependents having to go without products such as deodorant or shampoo. 43% have had to borrow from friends or family, 43% use free products in public areas and 14% have received items from a charity.
The campaign runs in Tesco superstores across the UK until Tuesday 11th of June.
