Having not been to Sygn before I was expecting good things seeing as it was next to Indigo Yard on Charlotte Lane.
The decor is pretty funky, with chunky wooden tables and mis-matched chairs plus unique lighting. We had ventured in for lunch.
The menu had a good choice of burgers, hot dogs and pizzas to pick from along with salads for those of us wanting to be a little bit healthier. I ended up choosing a naked steak and cheese burger with fries. After all being an Edinburger how could I not choose the burger.
I choose to have my burger without the bun and I think the portion of fries more than made up for this. The burger was served with melted mulled cheese and piri mayonnaise on a bed of tomato and rocket. The burger had a fantastic meaty taste and didn’t feel like it had been plumped out with breadcrumbs. The only fault was the burger was cooked right through, I prefer my burger a little pink in the middle. The fries where nice and crisp. There was a little pot of relish served with the burger, but to be honest, the burger was so tasty i’d forgot to even try it. My dining partners also thoroughly enjoyed their meals and I’m told the chillidog is definitely worth a try!
As I was there for lunch and other things to do later in the day I didn’t have anything to drink but was very tickled with how my soda water and lime was presented.
Overall it was lovely eating in Sygn and I will definitely be back. The food was well presented and tasty and I thought pretty good value for money. The friendly staff and trendy surroundings make it a great place to catch up with pals for lunch and a cheeky drink or two.
