Stewart Brewing tour and beer tasting!

December 6, 2015 by Clare Leave a Comment

So struggling for what to buy the significant other in your life for Christmas? Well look no further, Stewart Brewing have everything you need under one roof!

Situated out on the outskirts of town, Stewart Brewing is a local independent brewery. Since 2004 they’ve been brewing popular award-winning beers. The list includes Edinburgh Gold pale ale and triple-hopped Radical Road. If you venture out to Loanhead, you’ll find a one stop shop. On site they have a shop, taproom and Craft Beer Kitchen (brew-it-yourself facility).

You can buy gifts online or in store, there are gifts to suit any price range. Bottle openers (£1.50) to brew-your-own-beer experience (£185). Not sure what to get, you can always get vouchers (ps. you can purchase these up to midday on Christmas Eve).

To celebrate the launch of their 2 new seasonal beers we were invited out to take a tour of the brewery with fellow bloggers and then got to taste some of the good stuff. As I was designated driver for the night, Mr E made the most of sampling the delights.

The brewery, tap room and shop are all housed inside the one building. Something quite nice about being able to see where your beer has been brewed when your buying it.

Next up was tasting the Weiss Christmas Blanc and Weiss Christmas Noire. Unfortunately there Mr E’s memory is a little bit hazy and he can’t remember if the Noire was on offer but he definitely remembers trying the Blanc. The Christmas Blanc is a fantastic seasonal offering and in a few simple words Mr E says “it’s Christmas in a bottle”. A man of few words but from smelling the beer there is definitely a Christmassy smell and hints of orange and spice greet you.

We think they would make excellent stocking fillers! As for what’s exactly in the recipe we’ve been told this is a brewery secret. You’ll just have to try it for yourself and see if you can identify all the flavours!
