The hugely popular SpudBros Express brand is heading to Edinburgh, with its first Scottish location set to open on Lothian Road in July 2026.
SpudBros Express, the fast-growing baked potato concept created by viral social media stars Jacob and Harley Nelson, has signed a major development agreement with Scotland-based franchise operator SUR Group to roll out the brand across the country.
The deal marks a significant milestone in the company’s UK expansion plans and will see Edinburgh become the first Scottish city to welcome the rapidly growing food concept.
The inaugural Scottish site will open on Lothian Road in July 2026, bringing the brand’s loaded baked potatoes and social media-fuelled popularity to the capital. Additional locations across Scotland are already being explored as part of a wider growth strategy.
SpudBros has become one of the UK’s most recognisable food brands thanks to its enormous online following, boasting more than 5 million TikTok followers, 223 million TikTok likes, 1.49 million YouTube subscribers and 1.2 million Instagram followers.
The Edinburgh venture will be led by SUR Group CEO Suhail Rehman and Business Development Director Tariq Din. SUR Group currently operates a portfolio of major franchise brands across Scotland, including Black Sheep Coffee, Home Instead, Mathnasium and easyStorage, employing more than 500 people.
Speaking about the partnership, Suhail Rehman said: “SpudBros Express is one of the most exciting emerging food brands we have seen in recent years. The business has built incredible momentum through a combination of simplicity, quality and strong customer engagement, and we believe the concept has significant long-term growth potential across Scotland.”
The Lothian Road location was selected for its central position, strong footfall and mix of residents, students and visitors, making it a natural fit for the brand’s first Scottish outpost.
The expansion agreement was brokered by Seeds Consulting, which has been advising on the brand’s franchise growth strategy across the UK and overseas.
Bertrand Peyrat, CEO of Taster, the company behind the expansion of SpudBros Express, described the agreement as “an important milestone” and highlighted Edinburgh as “a fantastic city for the next stage of the brand’s journey.”
The arrival of SpudBros Express adds another notable opening to Edinburgh’s food scene and will give locals their first opportunity to try the viral baked potato concept that has captured millions of followers online.
The first SpudBros Express Edinburgh store is expected to open on Lothian Road in July of this year.
