Today we have something a little off topic from our usual food and drink ramblings but hopefully interesting to our readers none the less. We were recently made aware of new RBS Ad “Here for You” featuring Scottish folk musician Rachel Sermanni. It’s always nice to promote fellow Scots, especially talented ones like Rachel so we wanted to share this. The ad itself is another instalment of the “Here for You” campaign from RBS. Focussed around how the bank supports its customers with various initiatives such as their 24/7 helpdesk, mobile banking app etc.
Rachel is a folk musician from Carrbridge, Inverness-shire who has already played with Mumford and Sons and the one and only Mr Elvis Costello. The song featured on the here for you ad is “Everything is OK”. The track was composed for the advert which is an interesting twist of the usual role of advertisers using songs not specifically written for the ad they are featured on. I think the idea behind the ad and how it came about featuring Rachel is pretty cool: The first contact between Rachel and RBS was actually via twitter, with a tweet asking about the best bank account for musicians. RBS replied and it went from there. The fact that Rachel is also an RBS customer ads to the sincerity of it. The track is a lovely laid back number and works very well with the theme of the ad.
You can check out more details on the ad including a “making of” video here.
If you love the track as much as we do you can stream and download it on Soundcloud and it’s also available on Spotify and iTunes.
