Whitmuir Kitchen, the café-restaurant at Whitmuir The Organic Place, is under new management. Established in 2009, Whitmuir Kitchen has been serving fresh, organic, seasonal produce from ethical and fairtrade sources for more than 15 years. Since 1 February 2019, the café-restaurant has been under the management of Alexander Escobar, under his AtlanticOrganic brand.
Alexander Escobar comes to Whitmuir from Devon via Belgium and the Canary Islands. His style of Scottish-European cuisine is inspired by his many travels, and a long pedigree as a chef around the world. And, having grown up in a family of farmers and restauranteurs, he is dedicated to good, honest produce and is itching to work his magic to release the fabulous flavours of the organic produce from the farm and our suppliers.
The owners of Whitmuir Farm are absolutely delighted their organic cafe, the longest established in Scotland, and one of the very few in the UK, is open again and welcoming guests. Heather Anderson, farm owner, said “We can’t believe our luck. We are so pleased that Alexander Escobar has taken over our cafe and is now focused on making us the best in Scotland!”
Alex’s said: “During February we have enjoyed learning what Whitmuir Kitchen customers like and how they can best meet their expectations. Following a very successful Valentine’s Night event, we will celebrate our official launch on 1 March 2019.”
On 1 March, from 7-9pm, Alex and his team will be offering a taste of their full menu. The event is free to enter, with will offer a bar service for those who would like to buy a drink. Donations will be collected for the nominated charity, Tweedgreen. Tickets are free, but registration is required. This will be the latest in a calendar of evening events which complement daily opening from 9am until dusk.
