Edinburgh’s renowned rum bar, Ruma, is celebrating its first year in business by embracing the evolving cocktail scene with a raft of exciting new changes. Home to Scotland’s largest collection of rum – over 170 bottles – Ruma is launching a low-waste cocktail menu featuring non-alcoholic and non-rum options, unveiling an online shop, and expanding its popular tasting experiences.
The new menu, carefully designed around five flavour profiles – Fresh, Fruity, Short, Smoke & Savoury, and Classics – promises to make discovering new cocktails easier than ever, whether you’re drinking alcohol or not. Sustainability is at the heart of the menu, with creative use of ingredients such as poached pears in the much-loved Spiced Pear Mule and innovative repurposing of waste into the sparkling Mrs Kenmore cocktail.

From early May, Ruma’s online shop will offer 30ml sample bottles of their entire rum collection, and a brand-new range of canned cocktails will also be shared with local businesses to foster community spirit. Meanwhile, rum enthusiasts can book into weekly Rum Experiences and monthly Passport Sessions for a curated tour of some of the world’s finest and rarest rums.
Jamie Shields, Ruma’s Co-Owner, said:
In our first year we’ve seen huge interest not just in rum, but in quality drinks of every kind. We’re proud to offer something for everyone – whether that’s a rare Caribbean rum, a local beer, or a carefully crafted alcohol-free cocktail – all served with the same care and passion.”

Located on Broughton Street in the heart of Edinburgh’s New Town, Ruma continues to put Scotland firmly on the global rum map – and there’s plenty more to come.
