A few weeks ago mini burger had an overnight at Grandmas. We thought we’d make the most of the peace and quiet and squeeze in a chilled Sunday morning breakfast at Chop House Leith. We’ve been previously for dinner and the steak was superb so assumed the breakfast was a fairly good bet.
The restaurant is in a great location on Constitution Street with ample parking in and around nearby streets and easy access via bus.
The interior is nice and laid back, stylish seating and decor, low level lighting. Ideal for a relaxing weekend breakfast or indeed an evening meal. Unfortunately we were that focused on what food to order we forgot to take any shots of the interior.
The Full Thing: Butcher’s Breakfast

I was starving so went for the Butcher’s Breakfast and damn I was glad I did – Sausages, poached eggs, dry cured bacon, black pudding, haggis, mushrooms, tomato, hash brown and toast. It was very tasty and all cooked perfectly. It’s a pretty substantial plate of food and good value at £12.50.

Free Bloody Mary’s – Say Whaaat?!
If you do visit for breakfast make sure to book a table in advance between 10am – 12 and you get a free Bloody Mary. Not just any Bloody Mary either – you get to pick how spicy you want it on a scale of 1 – 10. Of course I went for the 10 and it was mega spicy and very tasty. Perfect pick me up for a Sunday morning!
Hot Bacon Sourdough
Hot. Bacon. Sourdough.
Mrs E went for the Hot Bacon Sourdough; Dry cured bacon, comte and charred tomatoes. This was delicious also. Packed full of bacon cheese and tomato with added grilled cheese on top. Heaven.
There’s plenty more tasty sounding options on the breakfast menu and I’ll definitely be back to try the steak and dripping eggs with bearnaise sauce.
If you are looking for a proper hearty breakfast this is certainly one of if not the best we’ve had in Edinburgh for a long time.
