As food lovers we know all too well the struggle of finding somewhere new to get our teeth into when it feels like you have frequented every eatery within a 10 mile radius. Thankfully in this situation online restaurant booking apps are your friend.
There’s plenty decent sites and apps around these days and we were recently made aware of another, Quandoo. There’s similarities between Quandoo and other like minded sites such as OpenTable and Bookatable; the ability to search for restaurants in your local area, by price range, distance etc. However they take this a bit further with the option of also searching by dining companions such as friends, family friendly, pet friendly among others and even by atmosphere; romantic, relaxed etc which is a cool idea.
As with a number of other online booking platforms Quandoo also have their own loyalty scheme. Sign up for an account and you automatically receive 400 points, then for each reservation you make on the site you receive a further 100 points. So what do points make? That’s right, prizes. Well I say prizes, although specifically it’s money off vouchers – collect 1,000 points and you can trade them for a £10 food voucher to be used at participating restaurants.
Quandoo certainly has potential, the site and apps are slick, easy to navigate and easy on the eye. However being an Edinburger there is one glaring issue in that sadly there are no current participating restaurants on the platform within our wonderful city. At the moment as far as the UK goes the platform is really only of use to those in London. The platform is expanding and I’m sure given a few more months there will be a number of participating restaurants added to the database so if you are outside of London be sure to keep an eye on it and check back in a month or two.
We will certainly be keeping an eye on Quandoo and will be racking up our loyalty points as soon as the many wonderful eateries Edinburgh has to offer get added!
The folks at Quandoo have also put together this rather funky infographic on real-time food consumption figures within the UK which we really liked so thought we would share with you. Enjoy.
