Now that spring is just around the corner, why not treat your loved one to something special?
Dates don’t have to be flashy or expensive, but the more thought you put into the occasion, the better So, if you have access to an outdoor space, we recommend treating your other half to a lovely outdoor picnic this spring.
Here is our guide on how to ensure you and your partner have an unforgettably romantic time:
Set up
For the perfect outdoor date, you need a good set up. If you have a patio space with garden furniture you are already sorted, but if not, you can just bring your indoor furniture outside temporarily.
If it’s particularly chilly, and you want to go the extra mile, consider setting up a tent outside. That way, you can still have a picnic even in colder months. Blankets and cushions are a necessity, and these soft furnishings are a great way to make things cosier.
Lighting is also an important thing to consider here, especially if you want to host your date in the evening. Decorate your outdoor space with solar lights to create a romantic and warm ambience. This will also make your space the perfect background for an Instagram post!
Food
The food can make or break your date, so this step is vital. Our failsafe trick when it comes to preparing date food is to compose your own charcuterie board with all your favourite items. Include crackers, cheeses, grapes, and deli meats for a traditional date vibe. Make sure you spend some time on the presentation to make your other half feel even more special.
For dessert, we think nothing is more romantic than strawberries and chocolate. Cut and wash some strawberries, put them in a glass, and drizzle with a melted bar of chocolate. You can sprinkle some chocolate buttons or marshmallows on top if you want to go that extra mile.
Drinks
If you want to showcase how much you care about your partner, try making your own cocktails for your date. There are many easy cocktail recipes that don’t require expensive ingredients or fancy techniques, such as the English garden, which is a combination of gin, elderflower liqueur, apple juice and freshly squeezed lemon.
Of course, a nice bottle of red wine or even just some tasty soft drinks will also do the trick!
Entertainment
We are sure you won’t need any help in this department, but just in case, why not bring out some retro boardgames? Connect Four and Guess Who are super fun to play with your significant other. Even playing an old card game is a great way to have some laughs.
Another fantastic tip is to use Spotify’s blend feature to make a dual playlist for you both. This way, you can play a combination of your favourite songs with minimal effort from you.
So, will you treat your partner to a wholesome date this spring?
