Make Honeycomb & Co. your next stop in Bruntsfield
Inspired by flavours from around the world and the best seasonal produce, new modern eatery Honeycomb & Co launches today in the heart of Bruntsfield. Serving up stylish dishes that are bursting with flavour, Honeycomb & Co will be a welcome addition to Edinburgh’s food scene, and is a new venture from the team behind many of the city’s eating spots.
This relaxed neighbourhood destination promises great food and service throughout the day, whether you choose to enjoy it in the bright, airy space or opt to take your choice home to share with friends and family. The menu is brimming with good things – start the day with a simple glass of ginger, lime and lemongrass crush, or pick smoky baked beans on sourdough toast topped with a poached egg. If you fancy something a bit different for breakfast choose one of the specials – how about shakshuka, topped with crispy black pudding from The Store Company and hazelnut dukka?
Lunch specials might include a vegetarian option such as steamed and butter-glazed asparagus with roast pepper and almond romesco and a smoky almond brittle. Fans of Asian flavours will make a bee-line for beef ramen, made with The Store Company beef slow-cooked in the kitchen’s ‘master stock’ and served with their own kimchee and soft boiled egg, while a bowl of spring minestrone will feature foraged wild garlic pesto to give some zip on the chilliest of days.
The Honeycomb & Co team are led by Ian D’Annunzio-Green, Susan Booth and Julie Friel. The three have worked together for over 15 years, with experience of running the cafes and restaurants at many of the city’s leading visitor attractions from the Scottish National Portrait Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art to Hopetoun House.
Honeycomb & Co’s Queen Bee, Susan Booth said
“The whole team is so excited to be opening in such a vibrant neighbourhood. With all our food made from scratch in our kitchens we can’t wait to open the doors to our buzzy and relaxed new home, we look forward to welcoming locals and visitors alike for many years to come.”
Leading the kitchen team will be Julie Friel – with a background in design before her career turned to cooking, Julie’s food looks as good as it tastes and has already established a tribe of fans with her event and private catering firm Patti & Jules.
Welcoming and family-friendly, Honeycomb & Co has a children’s menu full of delicious, fresh and healthy options or can offer smaller portions of any of the regular dishes for our younger guests. No time for a meal? Pop in to choose a take-out feast from the counter – sumptuous salads and main courses will liven up your lunchtime, or pick up some of the fun, seasonal cakes for a sweet treat.
If you’re entertaining, why not place an order in advance for your event or a special supper – choose your favourite Honeycomb & Co dishes. Great coffee and cakes will be available all day – the colourful, tempting bakes on offer might include Persian love cake doughnuts, cinnamon (and black cardamom) buns with tahini, or their signature honey cakes, with plenty of gluten-free choices too.
Situated on the sunniest corner in Bruntsfield, grab one of the seats outside and enjoy a scoop of home-made gelato and sorbet – featuring a creamy fior Di latte “honeycomb” and a range of exciting flavour combinations. As the name suggests, Honeycomb & Co is a champion of all things bee-related, and is proud to be working in association with Plan Bee – an ethical, sustainable Scottish business which offers beehive adoption, management & educational services. Honeycomb & Co will adopt Plan Bee hives and use their delicious honey and pollen in many of the dishes, from their signature honey buns to their irresistible granola bowls.
I’ll definitely be stopping in on my way home this week. Let us know if you venture in before we get there and if there is anything we shouldn’t leave without trying.

Your site is very nice but I can’t find the menu, address or opening times! I came to this site having seen you mentioned in the list thinking I’ll go there for breakfast and can’t find any basic info on your site!!
Tried yesterday, great location, great selection, friendly attentive staff but the prices are mouthwatering too.Nine pounds, plus tip,was a bit much for two cappuccinos and a wedge shaped cheese, mustard and herb scone. There are so many eateries in and around this location ,that I fear that ,like me,many folk will try and then go back to tried and tested outlets.Shame really,it’s really well done 🙁
