Eden Mill Unveils Landmark New Distillery and Visitor Centre in St Andrews

Eden Mill has officially opened the doors to its brand-new distillery and visitor centre, nestled on the banks of the Eden Estuary just outside the historic town of St Andrews – the iconic Home of Golf. This multi-million-pound development marks a bold new chapter for the Scottish spirits brand, combining sustainability, innovation, and heritage in a world-class destination for both local guests and international visitors.

A Modern Home for a Timeless Craft

The state-of-the-art site celebrates Scotland’s rich distilling tradition while embracing modern environmental responsibility. Fully powered by renewable energy, the new distillery is a shining example of sustainable tourism and green production.

Visitors can explore immersive gin and whisky tours, shop exclusive bottlings in a sleek retail space, and soak up sweeping views from The Lookout – a stunning top-floor cocktail bar offering panoramic vistas across the water towards the St Andrews skyline. For something a little different, guests can even tee off in the on-site golf simulator, a high-tech homage to the town’s golfing legacy.

Rooted in Local Heritage

Euan Kinninmonth, Brand Home Manager at Eden Mill, shared his pride in the new development:

“The vision was to create a distillery and visitor centre that would celebrate the town’s rich distilling heritage, highlighting St Andrews as a must-visit destination for spirits tourism. I’m delighted to say that this vision is now a reality. It’s a landmark moment – not just for Eden Mill, but for St Andrews as a whole.

“On a personal level, I will become the fourth generation of my family to work on the site of the old paper mill, which is a real source of pride given I was born and raised in the area.”

The opening has created 18 new jobs in the local community, reinforcing Eden Mill’s commitment to the area and its future.

A Suite of Signature Experiences

At the heart of the visitor experience is a range of interactive, hands-on opportunities designed to delight spirits lovers and curious newcomers alike.

From a Gin Cocktail Masterclass, where guests can shake up their own bespoke creations, to the Cask Mastery Whisky Experience – an elevated tasting journey featuring a chauffeur service to and from St Andrews – the new venue invites visitors to engage with the craft behind Eden Mill’s award-winning spirits.

Whisky enthusiasts will enjoy exclusive access to the Distiller’s Lab and on-site cask warehouse, with premium expressions available to sample and purchase.

Retail, Relaxation and Rare Releases

The bright and modern retail space offers the full Eden Mill range alongside limited-edition and distillery-exclusive bottlings. Guests will also find locally sourced gifts, including prints, artisan chocolates, and upcycled whisky wood products.

Upstairs, The Lookout bar is set to become a destination in its own right. Seating up to 40 guests, the bar offers a diverse menu of classic and contemporary cocktails, all paired with curated cheese and charcuterie boards from a nearby deli. Open daily from midday to 10pm, it welcomes both bookings and walk-ins.

Raising a Glass to Golf

In a nod to St Andrews’ global golfing heritage, the distillery features a professional-grade golf simulator, giving guests the chance to ‘play’ famous courses such as The Old Course – ideally with a G&T in hand.

To commemorate the grand opening, Eden Mill has released a rare Single Cask Sherry Matured Whisky, available exclusively from the distillery’s retail shop. The Oloroso hogshead, originally filled in 2016, has yielded just 279 bottles – a collector’s dream following in the footsteps of previous limited releases that sold out within hours.
