Nail salons are popping up everywhere and competition is fierce. The cities of Norwich, Southampton, and Plymouth each boast over 200 4+ star rated beauty salons alone and many other cities, such as York aren’t far behind. That’s why it’s vital to give yourself a competitive advantage by being the perfect all-rounder and offering your clients an outstanding experience.
What Makes a Standout Salon?
Norwich is home to the most top-rated nail salons with a whopping 126 nail salons across the city earning 4+ star reviews but what makes them stand out?
In a survey of 2,000 Brits, people shared what they found impressive. Alongside great value, this included:
- An overall positive experience.
- Excellent results from the treatment or service.
- Staff friendliness.
- Complimentary extras, such as hot drinks.
Creating a Positive Experience for Your Clients
As you can see, creating an overall positive experience is crucial. This covers everything from initial booking to when they are leaving the salon so there are several things to consider.
Communication
A good communication system not only makes your life easier but also helps your clients to reach you quickly to book or reschedule appointments or ask questions. Replying to enquiries or appointment requests promptly and politely creates a good first impression before your client even arrives at the nail salon.
Staff Friendliness
Customer service is key to creating a positive experience. Be warm and friendly and do what you can to make your clients feel welcome and relaxed. Give them your full attention from the moment they arrive and if they’ve visited before, try to remember their name and any relevant information from last time. Most clients will be happy to chat and will welcome conversation but it’s a good idea to try and read their mood as some might prefer to be left to their own thoughts.
Comfort
Clients come to your salon expecting to relax and unwind so comfort is key. Provide comfortable waiting areas and maintain this comfort throughout their appointment with comfortable treatment chairs such as pedicure chairs and comfy, adjustable seating at your nail salon.
Complimentary services
Offering your clients complimentary services, i.e. little extras that you don’t charge for can make them feel valued and increase the value of your service. Think about what special touches your salon could offer, whether it’s refreshments such as hot and cold drinks, customer loyalty cards or reward schemes or freebies and discounts.
Excellent results
The best compliment a client can give is to say that they’d happily come back again or would recommend you to a friend and they’re most likely to do this if you offer excellent results.
To ensure you always deliver the best possible results, think about the services you offer – are these unique and do you offer clients bespoke services that can be tailored to their exact requirements? Are you up-to-date with nail trends and advances in equipment, technology and technique? Can you offer suggestions for specific issues or a particular look that your client might like?
Posting the finished result on social media will make your clients feel proud of their finished look as well as showcasing your talents and attracting potential new customers.
Aftercare
The customer experience doesn’t end when their treatment finishes. To ensure their experience is positive from start to finish, make sure they’re 100% happy with their service before they leave the nail salon. Offer a variety of ways to pay for their service and ask if they’d like their next appointment booking in. Giving aftercare advice is also a great way to ensure they are happy with the results of their treatment, so be sure to let them know how to look after their new nails and keep them looking fresh.
