Leaf & Bean, Edinburgh

June 19, 2015 by Clare 1 Comment

It would seem that I have now reached that point in my life where everyone is getting engaged, married and having kids. Kids were the topic of this recent lunch out. I was meeting my good friend and her little boy so had to opt for somewhere kid and pram friendly. After much debate with my work folk we reasoned that Leaf & Bean in Morningside was the perfect venue. It really is a novelty getting out for lunch during the working week as I’m often time restricted.

Leaf & Bean for those of you who don’t know is located on Comiston Road. It’s a family run affair with regular slots from a local storyteller. The storyteller keeps the kids entertained and you can enjoy your drink whilst it’s still hot! Sounds like a winning combination to me.

On arrival there was lots of seating, with some lovely big sofas at the window. The waiting staff had a warm welcome when I arrived and I quickly found a seat with my friend. The menu is packed full of the regular coffee shop choices and they also do an excellent range of cakes, which I spotted on the way in.

IMG_3310I’d ordered a tuna melt panini and a red bush tea. The tuna melt was delicious. It had the correct balance of tuna, mayonnaise and cheese. The outside was crispy and well cooked. I was secretly overjoyed at the little pot of crisps alongside the salad. I like places which balance out the healthiness with a little treat. Unfortunately I didn’t have enough room left for a cake but just for you lot I will have to return and try them out. We both left feeling happy with the lunches we had ordered.

Leaf & Bean is definitely somewhere to go if you’re in Morningside and looking for somewhere friendly, tasty and kid friendly. I wouldn’t let that put you off tho, as it’s a lovely place.

Her x

Thank you for your lovely review, that is greatly appreciated.

Just to let you know we are having a wee refurb next month, freshen the decor and also enable us to expand on our menu, especially the salad options.

    Hope you all like it.

Thank you again for your review.
