As a busy mum of three in a family of five, our dishwasher is basically the hardest-working appliance in the house. It’s on at least once a day – usually twice – and sometimes I’m fairly sure it deserves its own thank-you card. To make things more interesting, it’s not exactly a shiny new model. It’s an older machine that groans into action and occasionally sounds like it’s clearing its throat before a big performance.
So when I tried Eco Dishwasher GreenTabs, I’ll admit I wasn’t expecting miracles.
Eco products can sometimes make me nervous – will they actually tackle a lasagne dish that’s been “soaking” (i.e. abandoned) all day? Can they deal with dried Weetabix welded to a bowl? In our house, the dishwasher doesn’t see light rinses. It sees chaos.

But honestly, these little tablets have been brilliant.
Despite being made with plant-powered, non-toxic ingredients, they cut through grease and baked-on mess far better than I expected. Even in our trusty old dishwasher, plates come out spotless, glasses are clear (no more cloudy film!), and cutlery actually sparkles again. I’ve stopped doing that pre-wash “just in case” rinse at the sink, which feels like a small but satisfying victory.
I also love knowing what’s not in them – no phosphates, no optical brighteners and no harsh bleaches. With the dishwasher running so often, it’s reassuring to know we’re not constantly blasting our family plates and cups with unnecessary chemicals.

For a household that generates mountains of washing-up and relies heavily on a slightly temperamental older machine, GreenTabs have genuinely impressed me. They’ve kept up with the breakfast rush, the after-school snack explosion and the full-on family dinners without missing a beat.
If your dishwasher works as hard as you do (and possibly complains less), these are well worth a try. In our busy, slightly chaotic home, they’ve earned their place under the sink.
