Almost everyone feels style embarrassment once in a while. You can get stuck in a bit of a rut. But there’s always a way out, and you just need to be willing to make some small changes.
Go All Out on Cosmetics
One of the easiest ways to feel better about yourself and your overall style is to try new cosmetics. This takes courage because you can often completely change how you look. For example, you can visit the dentist for some cosmetic work, get a brand new hairstyle, or even change your eye colour. As hard as some of these are to do, they are worth it. For instance, seeing your dentist for cosmetics also helps catch other issues like bad breath and tooth decay.
Make a Plan with Targets
You could argue that you can’t achieve anything without first making a plan. And any good plan must include targets. Think about what it is you really want to achieve. Maybe you want to be able to wear a pencil dress at an upcoming work event. Then some weight loss might be in order. Or maybe you need to overhaul your wardrobe for a new spring and summer collection. The trick is to list exactly what you want and think of possible solutions for getting there.
Ditch Clothes that Increase Style Embarrassment
Further to your wardrobe, wearing the wrong clothes can completely destroy your style and confidence. First, get rid of everything you know doesn’t work. This helps clear your mind and your space since most people only wear around 50% of the clothes they have anyway. Try not to hang on to anything that causes confidence issues. For example, get rid of the summer dresses you were holding onto when you were a few belt notches lower so you stay in the now.
Be Ready to Try New Things
Getting out of your comfort zone isn’t easy. But it is vital to enhance yourself and find the things that work, make you feel better and help your overall current style. However, for your own peace of mind, take small steps before overhauling yourself. For example, start small by trying a colour you wouldn’t usually go for. Or perhaps play around with geometric pattern blouses for skirts. And of course, it always helps to get the honest opinions of a good friend that you really trust.
Learn About Your Body Shape
Finally, you need to understand your body shape. This is essential because wearing the wrong clothes for your shape can make or break your efforts. Your body shape is generally focused around three points on your frame. These are your shoulders (or bust), your waist and your hips. Your body shape could also be one of five general types. These are oval, inverted triangle, triangle, rectangle and hourglass. There are clothing types and colours better suited to each.
You can all but remove all of your style embarrassment by making some changes. You can try some new cosmetics, revamp your wardrobe, and learn about your unique body shape.
