Founded in Stockbridge, Edinburgh by baker, William Alexander who named the company after the russet-skinned Golden Wonder potato, the brand has been treasured by generations of crisp lovers.
Crisp expert, Golden Wonder, returns to its Scottish roots in the heart of Edinburgh to unveil its fully-flavoured brand relaunch. The much loved crisp was created almost 70 years ago in Stockbridge, Edinburgh by local Baker, William Alexander who decided to name his new crisps after the russet-skinned Golden Wonder potato.
Since the launch of Cheese & Onion in 1962, the brand has become famous for its strong, distinctive flavours which are an integral part of the brand’s latest campaign as well as new packaging that echoes iconic packs from the past. Salt levels have also been reduced across the range.
To support the relaunch, Golden Wonder is set to burst onto screens across the country from Monday 3rd October with a new television advertising campaign. The adverts show how the taste-tingling flavour hit from Golden Wonder crisps is ‘In Your Face’ and features three of the brand’s best-selling flavours: Cheese & Onion, Sausage & Tomato and Salt & Vinegar.
Matthew Smith, Marketing Director at Golden Wonder, says:
“Flavour has been and always will be at the heart of what we do at Golden Wonder but we like to make sure we have a bit of fun too. Our fans often send us pictures of their faces when munching on our fully-flavoured crisps so we wanted to reflect this in our latest adverts. We love hearing about how much our customers enjoy our crisps so we’re encouraging them to give our new flavours a try and show the effect ‘In Your Face’!”
We are split in the house I love salt and vinegar, I just love how it makes your cheeks pull in they are so strong and Mr E is a massive fan of sausage and tomato.
