Book lovers, this one’s for you! This February, Bookshop.org is bringing back its wonderful charity drive, Read It Forward. And this year, some of Edinburgh’s very own literary stars are getting involved!
For every children’s book bought through Bookshop.org this month, 10% of sales will be donated to BookTrust and Scottish Book Trust, helping to get books into the hands of kids who need them most. And the best part? You’ll also be supporting independent bookshops at the same time. It’s a total win-win!
Meet the Authors Leading the Charge

This year’s Read It Forward has some seriously cool author ambassadors, including Catherine Rayner, the award-winning illustrator behind many of Julia Donaldson’s books, and Nadine Aisha Jassat, the Carnegie Medal-nominated writer known for her inspiring stories. They’re joined by actor, comedian, and author Alexander Armstrong, along with fellow children’s book champions Andy Day and Serena Patel.
Why It Matters

We all know how magical books can be but recent research shows that kids in the UK are reading less than ever. Only 1 in 3 children say they enjoy reading for fun, and almost half of parents don’t see it as their job to teach kids a love of books. Yikes.
That’s where Read It Forward comes in. By simply buying a children’s book this February, you’re helping charities provide books, reading support, and early literacy programs for kids from disadvantaged backgrounds. Last year, this campaign helped over 1,000 families – and this year, the goal is even bigger!
