Foodie parcels in the post are one of our favourite things and when the lovely folk over at Flavourly asked if we would like to receive one of their craft gin boxes to review we didn’t hesitate to say yes. Both of us have increasingly been drinking more gin and now rather than having a beer in the house or a glass of wine we’re more likely to be pouring ourselves a gin and tonic.
The craft gin box is a monthly subscription box where you receive 3 different 200ml bottles of gin, a selected mixer and a snack. The guys behind the box work hard to find small craft distilleries from the UK and sometimes further afield. If you don’t think you could get the 3 x 200ml bottles of gin drank each month you can set to receive the box at longer intervals. We love this idea as there will be some months you might get through them and be ready for your next box and other months if you’ve been on holiday etc. you might find it a struggle.
In the box we received there was one gin well known to us, Daffy’s Gin, and 2 new gins, Verdant Gin and Dingle Gin. The tonic in our box was from Lamb and Watt, made with spring water from the Lake District. We loved the surprise of opening the box to discover what was inside. Even our postie was quite taken with it and was having a good nosey of the box whilst waiting for us to answer the door.
All 3 of the gins in the box hit the spot. We loved the 200ml bottles as it was enough to give you a good taste of the gin and to let you decide if it was something you’d buy again or if it wasn’t for you, at least you haven’t bought a 700ml bottle and having it laying in the cupboard.
Does this sound like something you’d like to sign up to? Well enter the DISCOUNT code EDINBURGERS10 in the discount box at checkout or follow this link to have it automatically applied. We think this would make an excellent gift and with mother’s day coming up you can’t go wrong with a parcel of gin!
