Finally we have some good weather to write about and what comes with good weather? That’s right, BBQs and picnics galore. Our last attempt at writing a picnic post was hampered by the heavy rain and strong winds but thankfully this time we’re sitting out in the back garden after our first BBQ of the year thinking we probably should have put on some suncream as we’re starting to feel a little toasty.
Our first BBQ of the year was a simple affair. Lamb and rosemary chops, a colourful salad and some new potato salad. The lamb chops are done the BBQ for between 15-20 minutes and can be served with a little mint sauce if you like. We didn’t bother as we had a lovely salad dressing, walnut oil (like this one from FineFoodSpecialist). It adds a rich nuttiness to the salad. It certainly is a nice change from the usual olive oil type dressings we tend to use.
In an attempt to make sure we eat our 5 a day, we love radishes, vine tomatoes, lettuce, shredded beetroot and carrots and cucumber all mixed up. Mr E doesn’t realise just how much veg he has when it’s served up like this and when it’s served with tasty meat and with a dressing, you kind of forget how healthy it is.
No BBQ would be complete without a tasty beer to hand. On this occasion we went for old faithful, amber ale by Fourpure Brewing Co. To round the evening off we had some fantastic blue cheese (also from FineFoodSpecialist).
If only every evening was like this!
