A celebration of vegan food, ethical living and community spirit is coming to the capital next weekend as the Edinburgh Vegan Festival returns to the city for a packed day of shopping, street food and wellness experiences.
The festival takes place at Edinburgh College’s Granton Campus on Saturday 16 May from 10.30am to 4.30pm, bringing together more than 60 stalls featuring local businesses, artisan producers, cruelty-free brands and global cuisine.
Organiser Victoria Bryceson said the event promises something for everyone.
“You can’t miss this! I’m really looking forward to returning to Edinburgh with our festival this spring,” she said. “Sample world street food from around the globe, discover local and artisan produce, explore sustainable lifestyle choices, shop for cruelty-free beauty products, find ethical fashion treasures and connect with like-minded people.”
Visitors can expect a strong Edinburgh presence throughout the event, with a wide range of local food traders and independent makers taking part.
Among them is Edinburgh-based Quas Drinks, serving traditional handcrafted kvass made using a 180-year-old sourdough culture. The fermented probiotic drinks are unfiltered, unpasteurised and alcohol-free.
Desi Graze Box will bring Punjabi-inspired dishes including samosas, pakoras, tadka daal and aloo saag, while popular vegan bakery Considerit will offer its handcrafted dairy-free doughnuts, chocolates and ice cream.
Hot sauce specialists Heriot Hott will showcase locally sourced vegan sauces designed to reduce environmental impact, while NOoKyn Chakafe Studio will serve handmade desserts, teas and coffees inspired by Hong Kong, Thailand and Japan.
Scotland’s Soft Serve Cartel will also appear at the festival with its plant-based soft serve ice cream, alongside Edinburgh tea company Meadow Tea, which offers premium organic loose leaf teas and herbal blends.
The festival will also feature a range of artists and wellness experiences. Edinburgh-based artist Adriana de Matos will display her colourful portrait and wildlife paintings, while illustrator Lianne Allen of ChioneCrafts will showcase watercolour artwork inspired by nature and travel.
Visitors looking to relax can book one of four free sound bath sessions led by holistic practitioner June Meagher, who has more than 35 years’ experience teaching healing modalities. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure a place.
The event is organised by Vegan Events UK, founded by Victoria Bryceson, who also established the animal welfare charity Miracle’s Mission. The charity works to support vulnerable animals in the UK, Borneo and Egypt, with a particular focus on neutering programmes for stray cats and dogs.
Standard tickets cost £5, with accompanied under-16s admitted free. VIP tickets are available for £15 and include fast-track entry plus a goody bag featuring vegan products, samples and discounts.
