The McDonald’s restaurant at Newbridge in Edinburgh has officially reopened following a major refurbishment designed to improve the customer experience and make ordering faster and more efficient.
The investment, led by local franchisee Elliot Jardine, has transformed the restaurant with a redesigned kitchen, a new customer layout and updated digital ordering facilities to better meet the growing demand for app, kiosk and delivery orders.
The refurbishment forms part of McDonald’s ongoing reimaging programme, which combines new technology with redesigned restaurant layouts to create a more seamless experience for customers.

Among the biggest changes are dedicated areas for different ordering methods, helping to reduce queues and congestion, while a separate entrance and waiting area for delivery couriers has also been introduced. The traditional front counter has been removed, creating additional seating space and allowing customers to enjoy a more relaxed dining environment.
Behind the scenes, the restaurant now features a redesigned kitchen with a larger order assembly area and dedicated preparation spaces for dine-in orders, helping the team serve customers more quickly and efficiently.
The investment has also focused on staff wellbeing, with redesigned crew rooms and improved break facilities providing a more comfortable space for employees during their shifts.

Elliot Jardine, who owns and operates the Newbridge restaurant alongside 10 other McDonald’s restaurants across Central Scotland, said:
“I’m delighted to have reinvested in our Edinburgh Newbridge restaurant. The refreshed dining area has a modern new look, and we’ve introduced separate facilities for dine-in customers and delivery couriers to create a smoother experience for everyone. It’s fantastic to see the transformation, and I’m confident these improvements will enhance the experience for our customers while also making day-to-day operations easier for our restaurant team.”
The redesigned restaurant has been created to better integrate McDonald’s digital ordering channels, including self-service kiosks and the McDonald’s App, while making smarter use of the available space.
