Edinburgh’s foremost independent steak restaurant group has launched their ‘Chop House At Home’ concept. One of a number of local businesses to adapt to the current ‘lockdown’ restrictions, Chop House are offering their ‘Best of British’ dry aged beef. Available as part of a sharing feast for collection or delivery across the city.
Did you know that Chop House are now also taking part in the Edinburgh Eat Out to Help Out Scheme?
The group say their ‘At Home’ concept is intended to bring restaurant quality food “from our kitchen to yours”. It has been developed to give customers access to an exceptional standard of Scottish beef. It can be cooked easily at home alongside a selection of the restaurant’s most popular sides. The menu was developed as a reaction to the high volume of enquiries that had been received from customers keen to recreate their Chop House dining experience at home. Developed over recent months in lockdown, the menu has been tailored to the new ‘At Home’ concept with a focus on ease of preparation, consistency of results and minimal washing up for the end user!
As with the restaurants themselves, the focus is on sharing , with the menu built around feasts they contain a large cut of beef ranging from 400-900g and a selection of sides. The initial offer focuses on porterhouse, chateaubriand & bone in rib cuts of beef and all packs come complete with an easy to follow guide to ‘cooking the perfect steak’. With prices starting at £65 each meal is inclusive of a bottle of wine, triple cooked beef dripping
chips, sesame ‘slaw & wild garlic mushrooms. In addition to the food & drink, customers will also receive napkins, placemats, wipes & more allowing them to create the perfect setting for their ‘At Home’ experience.
Managing Director Mark Fraser pointed out that “restaurants are about much more than great food. They’re a social ritual in this country and have been sorely missed. We want customers to be able to have a really special experience when they used us ‘At Home’.
In addition to their steak feasts Chop House have also added a selection of extra items available for collection or delivery. These include Newhaven lobster from Welch fishmongers, a cheese selection from I.J Mellis & a range of cocktails & wines curated by the team in house. The team have also added a BBQ range to their online store. This features steak sandwiches, dry aged burgers and larger BBQ packs in preparation for the Scottish summer.
Director Michael Spink commented “the future for hospitality is unclear and we want to be able to safeguard as many jobs as possible. To do this we have broadened our offer to include a permanent online store”.
We’ve been watching Chop House’s social media and the Dine at Home offering certainly looks tasty. We might even get one lined up for ourselves very soon! If you’ve tried it at home, why not let us know how you got on?
