Choosing The Best Type Of Flooring For Your Home

by Clare Leave a Comment

Collaborative Post

Do you know what flooring would look best in your home? There’s so many things to consider and we are going to talk you through some of them today!

There are so many different types of flooring and not every type will suit every home. The type you choose will not only affect the look of the room but also will have other impacts too.  The type of home you live in will also affect your choice as a new build home will offer more options than a property that is hundreds of years old.

Here are some things that you should be considering when thinking about these renovations for your home.

Can You Update The Flooring?

First thing you need to consider is whether you can actually update the flooring. If you live in your own bought property, then of course you can – and most people in council or housing association properties can update their flooring too.

However if you are privately renting, this is something you will need to discuss with your landlord and tenancy agent.

Do Your Research

It is best to do your research on what floor type would work best in your home. If you have a lot of footfall in your home, one type may be more suitable than others. Likewise, if you have kids or pets constantly running around, you will want something extremely durable.

Be proactive and get some advice and quotes from floor experts whether these are resin floor experts or others – they will be able to guide you in the right way.

You should also do some research into your local climate – what type of weather can you usually expect from the area you live in? If you live in an area known for being damp and humid then you may find it affects your floor material and might even warp it! By doing your research before, you will know that the material you choose should be perfect for the home.

Did you also know that some types are more environmentally friendly than others? If that side of things is important to you, then research is key.

Consider Comfortable Flooring

You don’t want the floor type you choose to be uncomfortable especially if you have children and pets in the home. There are some really comfortable flooring materials out there that will be suitable for your home so choose one of those if you have little ones around.

Do You Have Allergies?

Whilst carpet can still be used if you have allergies, many choose to opt for something else as carpets can trap dust and dander particles. By opting for resin flooring or something similar, your allergies should be less affected than if you were to get your house carpeted throughout.

These are just a few things to consider when choosing floor types for the home. Whether you choose to have the same throughout your whole home or different types depending on the room, we hope these tips have been somewhat helpful to you.
