When it comes to modernising your living room, it can be tough to know how to do this on a budget. We have put together a list of three tips to help you with this but there are many more that you can try too – many of these are tried and tested multiple times over!
Have you ever tried modernising your living space? Did you manage to keep to a budget? If you have some ideas, please do feel free to share them with us!
Update The Skirting
Something many people don’t think of is updating their skirting boards. They are a part of the room that many people overlook, let alone think of as something that can be updated.
But how exactly can you update the skirting boards in your home?
You could paint them as sometimes the paint will chip and crack and need redoing. You can try plenty of different colours to suit the colour scheme in your living room. But if you do paint it, it is important to keep an eye on it and inspect it for any damage or wear and tear.
You can even update the designs of the skirting boards too or even use different materials too! You can do so much more to skirting boards nowadays, now that more materials are used.
Add A Rug
You could add a rug to make a real difference on a budget. Rugs can be picked up for a mere few pounds and can really make a difference to a room. They can really transform a simple space and help with a colour scheme – you can choose a neutral rug or maybe even a brighter colour!
Whether you choose a small rug or something larger, a rug is a perfect option for a living room – it is perfect on both carpet and wooden flooring. Rugs can be a real focal point and when modernising a room, you want important pieces that draw the attention and make a room seem fresher.
Rearrange The Furniture
This sounds so simple but so many people don’t think of it. It really shouldn’t cost you anything either, unless you want to add a couple of new (or preloved!) pieces! Simply rearranging the furniture can help you to create a living space that looks fresh and new and completely different from before, despite you not having removed anything from the space!
Sometimes moving the sofa into a different position or changing some shelves up can make all the difference to a room. Moving some homewares and trinkets from one part of the room to another may draw people’s attention elsewhere and mean they don’t realise that not much has changed at all!
These are just a few ways that you can modernise a living room. Some are simple and often thought of, others are perhaps something you would never have thought of! Have you recently updated your living space on a budget? What did you do to transform the space?
